One of the most critical elections in a lifetime, starts today
Remembering a slogan at Political Action Conference in the late seventies, “The problems are Economic, The Solutions are Political.”
Its 2025,” Winning for workers and retirees”. The federal election has been called, and the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada is calling on federal political parties and candidates to support policies that improve the lives of Canada’s workers and retirees.
Working with the Canadian Labour Congress our goal is simple, uniting workers and union retirees across Canada, we’ll hold corporations accountable and expose anti-worker politicians. Together, workers and union retirees are unstoppable! Our mission: make life more affordable and elect governments that support us. WORKERS and UNION RETIREES DESERVE A BETTER DEAL, AND IT’S TIME TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
We work our entire lives and still can’t afford to retire with dignity, groceries, housing, and other essentials fall further out of reach. At every opportunity, big corporations hike the price of things we need, for profit. And whenever there’s a legislation to make life more affordable, Conservatives vote against it and push cuts to the programs and services we rely on.
WE’RE OVER IT. WE DESERVE RESPECT. We need strong, pro-worker, pro retiree voices in government to hold the largest corporations accountable and enhance the programs and services we rely on. It’s time to come together to build a better future for all workers and union retirees.

Canadian Dental Care Plan expanded
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh welcomed the decision by Ottawa to expand access to its dental care program. “This is amazing,” Singh said of the “final phase” of the NDP dental plan. “For a lot of people, they’ve been living in pain, and they can’t afford to get it fixed.”
The federal health minister says that as of May, all eligible Canadians will be able to apply for the federal dental care program.
The program was launched initially for seniors in December 2023 and has been expanded in phases to cover children and people with disabilities.
In its first year, the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) has significantly improved access to affordable dental care. More than 3.4 million Canadians were approved to be part of the plan, while 1.7 million have already received care.
The federal Conservatives refuse to say whether they would keep funding the program, which was the product of a supply-and-confidence agreement between the Liberals and the NDP.
The federal Conservatives voted against this program to protect Canadians health; they can’t be trusted to maintain it.
