December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On December 3, we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). This year the theme is "Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future."

MFUR recognizes the accomplishments of persons with disabilities and the important role they play in leading us to a more inclusive and sustainable world for all.

As we celebrate their leadership we encourage everyone to learn more about IDPD, and explore how to promote inclusion and equality in our workplaces, our unions and our communities.

What can I do? 

• Read and share the Canada Labour Congress’s “Doing Things Differently: A Disability Rights at Work Handbook”;
  
  
• Support calls for a Canada Disability Benefit that truly lifts people with disabilities out of poverty;
  
  
• Understand the Accessible Canada Act and advocate for accessibility in your workplace.
